Thanks RT. when I was searching I couldn't find anything about this. She has a local morrisons so that'll please her.
I'm really pleased i can buy gift cards as the credit card being overcharged and hacked for in app purchases is an absolute pain when trying to get a refund and proving you didn't buy in app purchases etc. It's the one thing that took the shine off buyng them all an ipod and iPhone. I think it was about 2 years ago now but it spoilt it at the time.
The tablet is for Gmas 70th birthday so I want it all to be nice for her.
Tbh I think she'll only read the paper and go on youtube do some surfing and read her emails. She might not buy many apps now but at least she can if she wants to.

You might want to install Skype on it from Play and setup an account for her. You can put Skype on your ipad too so setup both and you can free video call Gran.

Safari is the name of Apple's Browser, the Ainol with have a generic Browser on it that works OK but you can install Android versions of many Browsers from Play including Google Chrome etc.

Personally I only use Opera, its free and renders pages beautifully, it also runs BBC iplayer well. It would be the first thing I install.

If you know Grans favourite websites you can preset them by browsing to them in opera then saving them to the speed dials that open when you start Opera.

If forgotten about iplayer. She likes that too.
Thanks for the info about saving her favourites. I'll do that for her aswell.
She's was so fed up one day this week as she had no iPhone charger (grandkids took it by mistake) and i had her desktop for repair. You'll have seen my hundred other posts about the PC won't start! Think its fixed but haven't given it her back yet.
So she'll be so pleased to have a third gadget when the others let her down lol. Mind you that dell desktop isn't gonna last - it sounded like it was gonna take off this evening - the fan was going mad for hours - I thought it was the washing machine & the dishwasher so I didn't bother looking!
Never heard of opera so I'll give that a go.
Excellent suggestion about Skype as we're gonna put that on nephews university laptop.
She loves FaceTime so Skype will be a good idea.

All4 of us use iTunes vouchers as when we had my credit card as our payment method it was regularly cloned/hacked whatever you like to call it. Many purchases of inapp purchases that we didn't authorise etc.

Really? I don't know anyone this happens to on IOS or Android. You should investigate further, as if this is user error it will follow you whatever platform you use.

Very funny, ha ha - user error - will follow you ;)
I'm glad I persevered and I will NEVER let people brush it off as 'can't happen' ever again.

There are loads of free apps - Not sure you will "Purchase" many.
I have probably purchased 2 or 3 in the last two years.

I'd also check whether gran is on a metered broadband service as iplayer / Skype etc will eat into it quickly, dependant on usage of course.

Yes thinking about it you're right. We've all got iPhones but hardly buy any apps now.
So she might buy duplicate ones to begin with because she can't put her apple apps on the android device but after that it'll probably settle down. She does like to buy a bit of music.

Hadn't thought of that. She's with Virgin cable. I'll have to check.

She won't be buying via the Play Store - Surely?
That would be from a different music account.
