Does anyone know when Virgin Atlantic open up their seats to book

At the moment they are all greyed out apart from some ones at the back.
However nearer the time of the flight they open up the rest of the plane so you can reserve the seats you want.
Does anyone know the time roughly they do this. I check every day and see no change yet.
Googling this does not give me accurate results even using + "" and all sorts of other things.
Thanks

I thought that approximately 75% of the seating was made available at -90 days before departure for pre-assignment. The balance held back until -24hrs. Some seating still held further and controlled from the airport, such as exit rows.0

90 days before the date of travel. We booked ours on Sunday, we travel on 27 July. If seat booking is available, you will be able to click on "Seat Map" and select your seats. If you're too early, it will tell you. When we logged on on Sunday morning there were very few seats left, make sure you log on exactly 90 days before if you want to select your own seats or you'll miss the chance.0

if most seats are greyed out but some are available to select then I would imagine that seating has been open for some time and most available have already been selected...as Westin said some additional availability may open up when online check-in opens...but if any of those available now are good enough may be better to select them to have a fall-back, then move seats if better are available when online check in opens.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Seats are not guaranteed. You can only request to sit in those seats so don't be disappointed if they sit you elsewhere0

agree but if you've requested seats in advance you have a better chance of getting those you want...and if you check in online you have a better chance of keeping the seats that were last allocated to you and not getting to the airport and finding out that you've been moved...
we regularly check out seating allocation in the months leading up to our flight to make sure we still have seats we are happy with. Occasionally an aircraft change means we've been shifted around and can move ourselves where we would be more happy.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
FYI for anyone interested
The upper galley opens up when your flight as under 48 hours away. I have 1 day 2 hours before my flight and I was able to finally choose the upper galley seats I wanted!0 -

I'm pretty sure that upstairs in the bubble is available farther out than that - I'm sure we have had the option to choose seats upstairs at the point seating first opens...it could be that all the available seats upstairs were taken and now someone had seats selected up there and changed them...or maybe additional seats were released - but I'm not sure it's the first time they are available.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
