Phoned up just now hoping to get a free magazine but when I turned down the chance of 3 for £1 I got a right earful from a very aggressive lady so I hung up and she has had the cheek to phone me back and leave abuse on my answer phone. So much for calls being monitored. I am still shaking.

    Oh my god thats awful!!

I had a really nice lady on phone luckily, sorry to hear you had such a bad experience.

I've set a reminder in my phone to cancel it in July :j

One small question...how much does the call cost? Possibly more than the magazine cover price?

No 0845 is local rate - max 3p per minute on a BT landline (other providers and mobiles may vary yada yada)
  • I have just called up for this one, got the 3 issues of Glamour for £1 and also 3 issues of Vogue for £1. I was advised if I don't like it to 'cancel the subscription' before the third one is sent - otherwise you'll be debited quarterly for the magazines.
The gentleman did advise me though that once I've received the first, call in with the cancellation reference that I'll receive in the post and they'll cancel the subscription, and I'll still receive the other two :j

So everyone please remember to cancel after you've received the first!

That was not on what that woman did to you. I would be inclined to save the message she left you and take it further. I know it's only about a free copy of a magazine but as you say it's left you shaking and that is just not acceptable. Hope you're okay now.:D

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

How terrible! Ironically, last week I had a friend this sort of thing happened to and got the police involved (although it was more than one abusive call, it was about 15 over 2 days) and THEY called HER trying to tell her she'd won a holiday initially.

Needless to say the lady in question got fired, and the company are offering compensation.

You shouldn't have to put up with that. Absolutely not. *hugs*

i just had the nicest lady on the phone - really friendly and not too pushy. went with glamour and easy living for 3 monthc each. grunnie - if the woman left her name, ring back and ask for a supervisor immediately, that's just so rude of her!

Does anyone know if these magazine offers can be got online? or applied for online?

You can get 6 issues for £6 here but if you go via quidco you can get £4.80 cash back for new subscriber so works out 20p an issue.

Just phoned up and spoke to a really nice lady - got my two free copies...
When she asked me about 3 more for £1 I explained I had a baby asleep on my lap and wouldn't be able to get up for my handbag. She's offered to call back later and tell me about the twelve magazine offers they have at the moment - she said I could choose what I wanted... and yes... they get to pay for the call!!!
    Not bad eh!!!!
