i've just had a new washing machine delivered from argos after a 2 week wait. The packaging seemed fine but after unpacking it there are dents at the bottom of the machine. I am away to call argos but i wondered if i have to wait another 2 weeks for a replacement can i use the one they delivered today?

No.
But why not use the dents as a bargaining tool and see if you can keep it with a chunky discount? (Assuming you can live with the dents). Take photos.
To me this is an opportunity0 -
yes if the dents are small or on the side where they wont be seen ask for a discount if you are happy to keep it0

As long as the dents aren't so severe as to call into question the ongoing reliability of the machine, then follow the advice above. (The machine will be tucked into a cubby, and only if the dents are on the front will they be visible).0

i am a bit worried as to how the dents have been caused, the dents run down both sides of the machine and i'm worried it has been dropped.wouldn't it be nice if i won : car/cash/family holiday

In which case, if you want a replacement you'll have to wait and see what Argos say. But I very much doubt you'll be able to use the machine in the meantime.
Not sure whether you'd be able to claim consequential loss until the replacement arrives? (e.g. laundry charges).0 -
I might add we used to buy from Comet's scratch and dent auctions and we bought a fridge that supposedly had small dents on the side. When it arrived it had actually been dropped and the chassis in one corner was about 4" shorter than the other. A bit of hefty negotiation and piece of 4" x 4" soon sorted the problem. Never had a problem with the fridge.0

OP look at it and do what your gut suggests, if you think the workings of the machine have been damaged.0

Negotiate the discount, ensure warranty is still intact, then use it. If it is not right then return it.0
