It is standard procedure with most ISP that you can receive from external pop servers but most restrict sending from them. GMail does bypass this using some form of authentication in the advanced settings (smtp 465 and pop on port 995) . This does work on all the computers I've set it up with.0

Thats interesting, I did not know that! However, my BT email addresses still work with Bulldog as my ISP (sending and receiveing from outlook) however, these have been mothballed due to leaving BT and me waiting for them to be closed...
Maybe it's a problem with Gmail, I will try again later - if not, I will just use the web based email...0 -
Keep trying, just checked & GMail is working ok.0

For some reason, when I click on this link, I get directed to the help page with the list of instructions to manually configure outlook 2002, which I have tried without success. However, if I click the link from my sisters PC I get the configuration tool! I have downloaded the tool and emailed it to myself so I can run on my machine but - it does not work!!!
What the hell am I doing wrong???0 -
It may be that security settings on your browser (or other security software) are blocking the auto-config page.0
