Nokia 6020: "Contact Service" displayed. Help, please.

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone could help with this. My Nokia 6020 will not turn on. When I put it on charge, after a few seconds, it displays the message "Contact Service".

I'm not sure exactly when it started this, as it's a spare phone which hasn't been in regular used for a few months.

It was originally on O2 PAYG and was unlocked about 18 months ago, with help from this forum (thanks, Browntoa). It was working fine for at least a year after unlocking.

Is this just a hardware fault? Is there anything I can do about it?

i just googled this and it came up with 'this may be caused by a bad unlocking attempt' or a hardware fault like you said

Well it worked fine after un-locking, so I guess that just leaves the hardware fault. Is that it then? Do I just scrap it?

Outside chance is that it is a hardware fault. More likely the firmware is corrupt and needs a full reflash.

Thanks. Is that something I can do myself? I have a USB cable for this phone.

it needs to be done by dedicated hardware
expect to pay about £10 to have it done
