Windows 8 downgrade

Hi all,

I have recently bought an Asus Windows 8 laptop - I was wondering if anyone could advise on the best way to downgrade to windows 7 please? Is there anyway of doing it for free? If not, how much would it cost?

With Win 8 you have a licence for Win 7 you may have to source the media separately..

Only Windows 8 Pro is eligible for a downgrade to Windows 7 licence.

A lot of laptops are sold with basic Windows 8 and not pro.

Yup only Win 8 pro.

How about installing something like StartIsBack or Classic Shell instead?

As above:if it's just the opening screen you dislike, then put Classic Shell on it.

I wonder if Windows 8 will kill the PC market. I certainly have no intention of buying a new one for a very long time now I'm just upgrading what I've got.

Worst operating system since cp/m.
I spent the first few weeks playing hunt the menu, so its manageable now.
In fact W7 is still all there, just hidden
Still worst £15 spend ever.
