If you are frugal then your kitchen can be done on a seriously low budget, our kitchen is 12' x 16' has worktop and base units on 3 sides wall cupboards, built in fan oven hob etc and was all done for less than £1000 with all the fitting done ourselves. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a fab kitchen. Good luck with yours.
I'm absolutely amazed you could kit our a kitchen that size for so little. Where did you get your appliances and units from?“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

We are looking to refit our kitchen too.0 -
I've just costed a kitchen from Homebase for £1200 with appliances for a 3m square kitchen. It's 10% day today and there is already 20% off kitchens this week end on top of their half price units! I can't really do the maths on that, but it's units only that are half price so the fiddly bits do make it add up to more than it should.
I was really impressed with the help I was given and unlike MFI they didn't even flinch when I asked to take the plans they'd done away to double check at home. They'll even hold over the 10% over until Thursday for me!Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
I was putting off doing my kitchen as I was expecting it to cost £5k then I discovered ikea free-standing units, the whole lot is costing me less than £1500 without appliances, I already have virtually new appliances anyway. Being freestanding the units do not need to be fitted by a professional, can be moved around as you wish and taken with if you want when moving house.
I found the ikea home planner very useful as well for deciding what goes where, working out costs and seeing how it looks in 3d.

I need a new kitchen too (we recently moved and gutted the entire house)and after having a quote from B&Q of £7800 (no appliances as I already have them) I smiled and said thank you very much.
I am now going to buy mine from Bernstiens who supply B&Q with some of their designs and looking to pay £1000 for the kitchen and my friends son (who is a kitchen fitter) is going to fit it. My kitchen is roughly 10ft x 12ft and I am going to have solid wood doors and good quality cabinets.0 -
We have just had a kitchen fitted by B and Q which has an integrated cooker, hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. It cost £4,200 but that was WITHOUT the tiling which would have costed nearly a grand more.
My advice would be to avoid B and Q like the plague. We waited 6 months for our kitchen and we had to chase them up daily to find out what was going on. They were absolutley useless and nearly caused my husband a nervous breakdown. Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small
