Hi all,
We are moving into our first bought flat soon, and it needs a new kitchen. It is 14 foot by 10 foot, pretty much square with one wall sticking out slightly.
I know this questions is like asking how long a piece of string is, i wasjust wondering if you can all tell me how much your kitchen cost?
I would like to have something middle of the range, something that looks really nice but doesn't cost a bomb. We would however like to have the washer machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and fridge freezer built within the cupboards. Does this cost ALOT extra?
Thanks for any advice.

The units for built in appliances wont cost that much more but you will pay that bit extra for the appliances.
I paid around £2000 for intergrated dish washer,washing machine,fridge freezer,double oven,ceramic hob and a s/s extractor , all mid range type appliances.
I had the 3 walls of the kitchen (they measure about 10 ft each) fitted with base and wall units with the doors in solid oak with glass corner units etc and that came in at just under £5000.
Hope that gives you something to go on.0 -
I have just paid 3,400 for a 8ft x 8 ft kitchen, including oven, hob, hood, sink, a larder, and good quality cupboards/drawers and fitting (which is about 1,300 of the total).
This is in London.
Integrated appliances bump up the price - I think I was quoted 400 for an integrated fridge, and 400 for an intergrated freezer. I decided to buy my own freestanding fridge freezer to save space. The oven was about 400 also, and the hob 150.

We shopped around for ages then opted for a b&q sale kitchen, they are allways on !!! integrated fridge and a freezer, larder unit floor to ceiling we put allsorts in there very usefull and several smaller units and a good cooker we had change out off £3000. i did most of the work myself then all the hard bits got a man in for the day as i am not Mr diy by a long way, everyone who sees it thinks it looks good hope this helps i will send a piccy if u wish this is my first and probably last kitchen !!!!!! atb:j0

Thanks thats great!
I actually got the size wrong, its 10ft by 10ft. If we can do it for under £5000 that would be great and closer to 3/4 would be amazing! lol
The bit which im stuck on is, how to go about getting it fitted. Our idea is to go to mfi/homebase/b&q etc for quotes and some design ideas and see how much they charge for fitting because neither me or the OH have ever done anything like this and i'd hate for it to go wrong.
We are also in London, well Surrey...near Kingston Upon Thames. What do you think we should expect to pay for fitting? or can we even TRY to do it ourselves?? lol
Thankyou
Oh and i'd LOVE some pics, thanks!0 -
I took the view that I could fit it myself if I wanted to, but then I wouldn't get a professional finish. And I think if you're spending all that money on a kitchen, the finish is important.
Incidentally, the company I used were Betta Kitchens. They have been very good so far (kitchen going in in two weeks time). They started out with a quote of 6K, but I told them I wanted to pay no more than 3K.
After making my position clear, they came back with 5K. I still said I only wanted to pay 3K, and that I would go to another company, "thank you for your time etc, I do agree your products are lovely."
So they said "How about you have a chat with our trades dept"?
They sent around a man from their trade division, and he quoted 3400, for the exact same kitchen plus fitting. It was also on a "Pay 10% now, and the balance in 12 months (interest free credit)" deal.
I said "Deal"
Happy to give you the name of the chap from their trades department if you're interested - he is based in Slough. He said I was welcome to pass on his number to anyone else who wanted a trade deal.
That said, I'm not in a position to endorse the company yet, as my kitchen isn't in!Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
Oh, and pics: here is the one I ordered
http://www.bettaliving.co.uk/Product.aspx?d=1&p=1
It was one of the cheaper ranges. Very thick doors, and soft-close mechanism etc.
You can find kitchen offers here:
http://www.bettaliving.co.uk/Division.aspx?d=1
And also:

HOWEVER, be warned: to compensate for getting the appliances so cheaply, they increase the price of the units themselves. If you go through the trades dept, they will substantially reduce the cost of the units, although the appliances will be at "normal" price.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
Thats fab thankyou, yes i would be interested in the mans contact details if thats ok.
We aren't moving in for a while yet so i can wait and see what you think to it after you've had it fitted! Thanks0 -
Just to let you know that Homebase are now offering a fitting service (soon to be national we were told) and their prices are very reasonable. Might be worth you going in for a planning session which is free and a no obligation quote. We are very pleased with our new kitchen.0

B & Q have a kitchen planning tool on their website. It is fairly basic but it gives you a quote at the end of the process & you can save your design & make alterations that change the quote online. I found it useful to get a rough idea of costs. The link is:

If you are frugal then your kitchen can be done on a seriously low budget, our kitchen is 12' x 16' has worktop and base units on 3 sides wall cupboards, built in fan oven hob etc and was all done for less than £1000 with all the fitting done ourselves. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a fab kitchen. Good luck with yours.0
