Snooper S3 & S4 [CLOSED]

You need to update the database as the cameras change so often, they have just fitted a whole load on the M4.
I have an Snooper S6 Neo, these are great as they are GPS and have on optional plug in Lazer/radar unit so if they ever become illegal you just unplug the unit..0 -

Depends on the journeys you do really. Ive a morpheous geodessy which was the first gps speed camera warning system to come out. My subscription ran out months ago and i just havent renewed it, mainly because i do the same journeys every day and there hasnt been any new speed cameras on my route for years.
If I was going to do more miles around the country then it would be a good idea as new cameras are added all the time and roadwork cameras frequently move around too.0 -
My understanding was that they would only be outlawing pure and simple radar detectors, and ones including a GPS wouldn't have been banned anyway...Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
Read an article today (Times Driving Suplement) saying the AA are to publish all fixed speed traps on their maps in future!
Hope this helps those of you who travel the unfamiliar roads at your peril?

I had a Snooper and despite it being in a very secure Saab it was so attractive to thieves that they smashed the window (alarm blaring) reached in and stole it. They are usually fixed by suckers to the screen and so quite easy to steal.
I miss mine as it is very useful if you have to drive a lot for work, but I am concerned about getting another in case my car is broken into again. Of course, you can remove them each time you leave your car, but that is a REAL pain and I know I would soon get sick of it every time!0 -

Did you not think to remove it from display before leaving your vehicle ?
Would you leave £300 in bank notes on your dashboard ?
It is common sense not to leave anything valuable on display.0 -

If you do the same journey every day and you know all the cameras then you dont need one at all so of course you dont need to update the database you would be best to flog it on ebay.
On the other hand as you say if you do a loty of miles in areas you don't know its essential to update..0 -

Wrong. Ive only ever been flashed once by a speed camera and that was on a bit of road which i drove down 2 or 3 times every day for 5 years. It was a clear bit of road, good conditions and my speed crept up without me really noticing. I got flashed for doing 72mph in a 60mph zone. Result was 5 points and a fine.
Since then, i always keep my gps system on, even on routes I know. As in a powerfull car/motorbike, the difference between 70mph and 60mph is hardly anything and not so easy to notice, especially if you have your stereo on, and are busy paying attention to the road rather than your speedo.0 -
Wow, 5 points and a fine, that's harsh!
The fixed cameras don't bother me, it's the soddin moveable laser cameras which sit on the opposite side of the dual carriageway which bug me, very difficult to spot. Caught twice last year in exactly the same spot, on a Friday and at a similar time!! Really difficult to keep an eye on your speed, check the traffic and check both sides of the dual carriageway at the same time.
DSNice to save.0 -
I seem to remember somewhere reading an article, that on the continent the police are very hot on these items. They will give you a large on the spot fine for just having it in your car (especilly if you are British). Although I sure it referred to the laser detection and not the gps system. So beware if you drive outside the UK.0
