I'll get back to you guys as I've only just got up (night shift worker) They have me on the Go-fix 8 tariff, although this isn't what I was on when I joined Dec 2011.

That tariff charged the following prices:

    Gas:
    38.32 p per day (£139.89 per year)
    3.522 p per kWh

    Electricity:
    39.90 p per day (£145.64 per year)
    9.996 p per kWh

(An annual discount of up to £105 is available)

But I believe that tariff ended 03 February 2013, so I wouldn't be surrprised if you are not now on their Standard (expensive) tariff if you have not agreed any new one.

Yes it seems it did finish on the 3rd Feb and I have been on their standard rate since ! I never received notice although they said it was sent by post, I know I should have monitored it anyway . I'm going to mail a complaint with regard to the lack if notice, as I think a courtesy call would have been nice .
I have gone onto the Energy online Aug 14 tarrif now, which increases my DD by £29 per month to £149, I made a one off payment to bring some of the debt down, also reducing the DD.
I think some of the figures I quoted last night were for yearly consumption, hence the confusion.

I've spoken to Npower and they basically confirmed what you guys have said. We've had a cold winter and most bills are expected to be in arrears people usually use the summer to clear them, bills go down slightly the following billing and then back up again to pay for winter. I gave them new readings and they did say i've been over estimated so the bill has been scrapped and a new bill will arrive next week.
