Hi guys
If I was to put 2 first class stamps on a packet Would I get 60p x 2 so £1.20 in postage or doesn't it quite work like that?
So confused. Help please

Yes, that would work fine.0

So 3 x 1st class stamps = £1.80 and the royal mail won't mind/care?0

You can buy stamps for 1p, 2p, etc to make up the right postage
so that's perfectly fine! 0 -
They don't care as long as you have the correct postage.
I get a small discount in 1st and 2nd class stamps as well as large letter stamps so use them to make up the correct postage. So for instance on a 2nd class small parcel at £2.60 I would use 4 x 2nd class + 1 x 1st class.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Here's another : *currently* a second class large letter between 100 - 250 grams is one 1st class and one second class stamp together exactly.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Before April you used to be able to pay for Special D with various combinations of 1st, 1st large and 2nd stamps... now need to buy a 2p stamp (for the cheapest)
Since I bought loads of 1st class stamps when they were 32p I now use them to get a big discount on postage which is funding my latest drive to get P&P stars up.0 -
It wouldn't take too much working out to get postage to a standardised rate where they didn't have to print so many different price stamps.
So that each bracket increased by the price of just one or two standard stamps. I know applying logic to RM's pricing would never work..0 -
I'm amazed by the answers on this topic so far because my experience has been exactly the opposite.
I have sent large letters using multiple first class stamps and had them held at the sorting office for collection as multiple stamps were "only counted as one". I have also had to go and collect from the sorting office as "two first class stamps count as one".
As Royal Mail can charge the extra cost of the right stamp and another pound on top for "revenue protection" and have a monopoly they have an incentive to be difficult.0 -
They must be daft at your sorting office. I regularly use first class (60p) and a 10p stamp to make up to the large second rate, and never had a problem with them being held - if anything, they get there much quicker than a large 2nd stamp as they are sorted by hand.
