Thomas Cook / Easyjet Confusion
July1962
My partner and I were thinking of a 4 night stay in Amstedam in late June. We looked online (several sites) and Thomas Cook seemed to offer the best deal for flight times & the hotel we wanted.... however.....
It says on their website they use Easyjet for the flights, which I don't have an issue with but wondered how to do an online check-in with Easyjet via Thomas cook (no check-ins open at the airport after 30th April apparently, all pre-book).
I sent a facebook message to Thomas Cook but they just gave me a number to ring (0844 879 8400 which is always busy).
I then checked google and it seems that LOTS of people are confused about this and there currently doesn't seem to be any easy answer (not from Thomas Cook anyway).
I don't want to book it with Thomas Cook and then find I can't check-in online via Easyjet as I didn't book direct with them, and when asked if I'd get a code/reference number after payment I just got told by Thomas Cook to ring the same number!
The spring break was meant to be 'relaxing' but that's currently the opposite to how I feel about trying to book it
I then looked at booking the flights via Easyjet (prices not too bad) but they don't offer the hotel I wanted - aaarrrggghhh! (I may have to book a different hotel at this rate).
I looked at booking.com and it SEEMS they have a decent deal (good flights, but Easyjet again with the same issue, and the hotel I want), but then I read bad reviews about the site and now I don't know WHAT to do....

can you not book the hotel separately through the likes of trivago, hotels.com, travelrepublic etc etc? That way you get the flights and hotel you want, and can check in online direct with Easyjet.0

It's looking like I may end up booking the hotel with Thomas Cook and the flights direct via Easyjet.
Thomas Cook are offering the hotel cheaper than anywhere else I've looked so far, way cheaper than going direct via the hotel website.
Never used Thomas Cook before so am a bit wary, especially in light of their less than helpful responses so far.
Not ideal but I've checked other sites and can't seem to come up with a better solution....although I will obviously keep looking!!It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice

Book the flights directly with easyJet on their website.
Book the hotel with Thomas Cook.

My guess would be that, if you book the combined deal, Thomas Cook will send you an easyJet flight confirmation number, and you just check-in via the normal easyJet website.
Definitely not worth stressing about - even though the aim is to get everyone checking in online, easyJet will always have people who forgot or couldn't do so, and will more than likely be able to check in at the airport, despite what their website says. They have to have desks open for people to drop their bags off anyway!0 -
I'm confused as to why you need to check in online for Easyjet. Since seats are unallocated and it's only the two of you I'd just do it on the day. Do Easyjet no longer do on the day check in? I rarely check in online unless it's long haul and I can't choose my seats at time of booking and normally get to the airport 60-90 minutes before a flight.0

Yes, looking at alternatives and giving it some more thought I will probably book the hotel via Thomas Cook and flights direct with Easyjet.
I did look at the hotels option on the Easyjet site and although we used them in the past for our accommodation there didn't seem very much choice this time (single rooms or miles away from the centre, or bad reviews).
It's been years since I last flew easyjet so was just concerned about the new booking-in online policy (don't want to get there and get charged a heap of cash because I got something wrong on my home computer!)
I was also a bit bemused about how you actually check-in luggage if there are no check-in desks?! (You obviously don't just leave them in a pile unattended somewhere).
I was also a tiny bit concerned about Thomas Cook, who are an unknown quantity to me.... however, I will probably just have to go with them for the hotel as they are quite a lot cheaper then the rest.
Thanks for all the replies

Easyjet have bag~drop desks at the check~in desk area, you check in hold luggage at those. you wont need hold bags though will you, for 4 days?0

easyJet is an allocated seating airline now, so although it's unlikely, there is the risk you'll be sat at opposite ends of the plane! They are also aiming to get all passengers checking in online.0
