I'm thinking about making my own body scrub. Most of the decent ones are expensive; so I thought it may be cheaper and just as effective to make my own.
Anyone made their own before? Any good receipes??

I make one using sweet almond oil - about half a cup, ground rice - enough to give the right consistency, and a few drops of essential oil - lavender is my favourite - its lovely

Used coffee grounds make a good one, saves just throwing them away too, here's a few ideas I found.COFFEE BODY SCRUB
2 cups of coarsely ground coffee
1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt
2-3 T massage oil
Mix all ingredients together. Take a hot shower to moisten your skin and open your pores. Using wide, circular motions, rub the coffee exfoliant onto your skin with strong, even pressure. Shower off, pat skin dry, and apply a thin layer of your favorite body lotion.
A Coffee Break for Tired Feet
by Michele Bender
What you need:
¼ cup sea salt
1 tablespoon freshly ground coffee beans
1 tablespoon ground vanilla beans
¼ cup olive oil
1 pot of coffee, at room temperature
Whipped cream
Follow these steps:
1. Mix salt, coffee and vanilla beans, and oil in a bowl.
2. Pour the coffee in a basin and add the whipped cream.
3. Place feet in the basin and soak for about 10 minutes.
4. Take a scoop of the salt mixture and rub it over feet and calves, concentrating on callused areas.
5. Rinse feet with warm water, dry them lightly with a towel, and follow with a hydrating moisturizer.

Do It Yourselfer? Make an easy, simple oil scrub by combining salt (or sugar) with any oil you have on hand... we like olive or sunflower. Make small batches and store in the fridge. Please don't store homemade scrubs in the shower—the lack of preservatives and a humid environment make an ideal breeding ground for nasties.
As a starting point, use two parts exfoliant to one part oil and adjust to suit your taste. One day I might be more organised...........

I often use a scrub made from fine sea salt and oil - baby oil, leftover body oil, olive oil, doesn't matter. Add a splash of liquid soap or bubble bath if you want it to smell pretty - or a couple of drops of essential oil. I'd say I go about 2/3 salt to 1/3 oil.
Beware, though! Oil-based scrubs have a tendency to leave the bottom of the shower/bath like an ice rink!0 -
A teaspoon of sugar in your ordinary shower gel is effective.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Hi there
the porridge oats in the foot of an old tight is lovely, especially if you add some dried milk powder if you have any...just tie a knot in it and hang it under the hot tap so the water runs through it into your bath... is really moisturising...it helped get rid of my dry skin..regards jill-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

ah, so you don't use it as a body scrub then, more of a bath soak?0
