FREE body scrub & foot scrub & moisturiser

This is next to free and will save you a bunch of money! :j

You already have most of these items at home right now, no need to get them from Boots / Superdrug / Body Shop...

You can use virgin olive oil in the following ways:

- Body & Foot Scrub - Mix some olive oil with brown sugar until it's the consistency of something you'd buy in the shop - then rub all over wet skin. Then rinse off!

- Body Oil in the shower- Use olive oil as a body oil iin the shower instead of expensive things like Dove with oils. You can do this in the shower, massage gently then rinse off, or rub sparingly onto dry skin. Then use your normal shower gel etc.

- Facial treat - Olive oil can be used sparingly on your face as a moisturiser.

- Eye Make up remover - A few drops of olive oil onto cotton ball then dab gently around eyes.

- Add it to your favourite moisturiser to make it even more hydrating

- Last but not least, olive oil is great for bringing up the shine on stainless steel items!

This costs next to nothing and is organic / environmentally friendly (uses less packaging) and Money Saving.

Costs - as little as around £0.02p a month if you use ingredients you already have. More if you use lots obviously - OR could be under £0.50 per month if you buy 1 new bottle of virgin olive oil & 1 bag brown sugar JUST for this beauty purpose (say at a total cost of £5.50) - could last a year or more.

Still a bargain - try it just ONCE and see for yourself!

He he, well if there's someone out there that doesn't have olive oil and sugar in their cupboard, they must be looking in the Debt Free Wannabe thread and are very in-debt indeed :p

The above beauty tips take a tiny amount of each product to make, but for the sake of argument - let's suppose you buy one bottle olive oil JUST for all your beauty for a year? Maybe £3.50. Brown sugar JUST for beauty? Maybe £2.... SO... £5.50 over 12 months = £0.46 per month.

Beats the monthly spend in Boots etc :T

And... you may be able to be a gold level MSER and get cheaper total cost than £5.50... I'm thinking buying in bulk, buy one get one free...

:rotfl: there's no way I could wash myself for a whole year with just ONE bottle of olive oil. And although I do have some in my cupboard, I had to pay to put it there!! And my shower gel is way cheaper than olive oil per ml. :rotfl:

Nice idea though, I remember seeing Adam whatsit cleaning himself with olive oil on that "What the ROmans did for us" show. :)

    I don't use sugar in tea/coffee & I don't bake, so I don't buy it :P

    Good tip though

Just a note - you don't end up smelling like an olive - it's a light natural smell!

Think about it - all the major stores now have moisturisers / scrubs etc with olive oil in them - I'm thinking Body Shop / Neals Yard / Boots Mediterranean range / Superdrug scrubs etc. That's because they all know the amazing qualities it has...

The olive oil in the shower is just for an occasional body treat - it washes away and you only need a 10p amount per wash, then you can use a little of your coconut wash etc to wash as normal - the oil is more a special treat for the skin, occasionally, not a wash. The scrub you can use as many times as you like - just make up a pot and use a little scoop of the gorgeous stuff when you need it. :T

I didn't believe it either - then once I tried it not only was I happy I could use an organic product that did not irritate my skin or add a bunch of chemicals, but also that I wasn't unecessarily buying any more plastic so better for the environment too. Of course as an MSER I was also very happy to be saving money too (see costings above).

I dare everyone here just to try some or all of the above ONCE just to try it - it's entirely natural, and if the Romans looked as tanned/bronzed as they did, they must have known a thing or two about keeping that skin looking good... Olive oil was used in the original olympic games as a moisturiser and sun oil - men only - now there's a picture!

As MoJo suggests - add a drop of your favourite aromatherapy oil if you like - lavender perhaps or patchouli - but just try it out though... the scrub with brown sugar is amazing...

Come back with any comments when you've had a go :j

I learnt about using o/oil with sugar or salt from my mum - she was an avid gardener and used it on her weathered hands.
I use it a lot but I keep the extra virgin o/oil for cooking :)
