Anyone been threatened by another bidder?

This happened to me and it was quite scary. I was bidding for a back issue of a magazine and the other bidder kept sending me emails 'suggesting' that I stop bidding as she really wanted the magazine. The emails got more and more threatening. She ended up winning the auction anyway 'cause the bid way over the top. I was glad she won as I didn't fancy dealing with the consequences!

Thats pretty bad..... I hope you forwarded all emails to EBay?

If not, and you have them, do it now..... It's the only way to handle these folk. ;)

    PS.
Add this to the long list of reasons why you should.....
"Bid Once... Bid Your Max... And Bid Late" :D

I did forward them to ebay, but never got a reply.

I do bid late now, I've learnt my lesson!

Is the person still a member on ebay?

If she is I'd write another email to ebay about the situation.

Got to agree with Tojo...bid late.

But on saying that being a contrary sod....I think I would have pushed them even further...dangerous game I know, but it would have given me some satisfaction one way or the other.
  • what a beeyatch!! if only you could ruin other auctions she was bidding on! not fair on the seller though of course!! id def report it and id want her account cancelled

She doesn't seem to be on ebay any more - hurrah! What was weird is that I don't think she was deliberately being evil, I just think she was so obsessed with getting the magazine that she felt she was in the right!

I would have bid, won the item then put it as buy it now for a ridiculous figure just to p her off!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, reporting to ebay is the main thing, I'm surprised they never got back to you as I've always found the customer support very prompt.

I just pop in now and then.... :)

I've been threatened in as much that "apparently" something I sold was not of the quality the winning bidder expected, or that I had apparently made out in the auction details. I was as truthful as I could (it was some value hand tools)

In the end, I offered to refund the difference between what i actually paid for the and the winning bid, and he was happy and left me good feedback. I nearly came to threatening a winning bidder of one of my items after the little "cheque clearing then recalled" incident! Luckily that was sorted out OK in the end.
