Because you purport to be a Sky representative with "insider knowledge" and you started a thread entitled "Need Any Help With Sky?"
I'm certain Sky would want customers directed to the Sky Help Forum where they could be sure of accurate information. MSE has to be sure anyone making such claims is bona fide.

..... ESPN becomes BT sport however there are plans for sky to rent BT sport I believe.
    Telegraph reported on 13/4/13:
Although they [BT & Sky] are notionally still in discussions, insiders claim there is almost no hope of a deal at this stage ....
"TV price war looms as BT, BSkyB talks fail": http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/9992597/TV-price-war-looms-as-BT-BSkyB-talks-fail.html

This is consistent with other reports.

It's understood that BT intend to sell the BT Sport Pack directly to consumers on the Sky platform.
How will it be available on Sky?
We are setting up channels on the Sky platform, so that Sky customers will be easily able to receive BT Sport in standard and high definition, by calling us. You therefore won't buy the channel from Sky, but directly from BT.

They intend to operate at least one ESPN-branded channel.

Well said sir! All true and factual too. BT will indeed be retailing their own sports channels. And ESPN too. Much to Sky's annoyance.

Indeed, sometimes a few links to official sites and reports is far more informative than personal opinions posted on an internet message board!;)

Just like BT already has SKY SPORTS :-)

Murdoch is just a little bit worried as BT pushes back and not just football.

How do you know you have pick of the games when the fixture list isnt even announced yet lol

fwiw BT have Sky Sports 1 + 2, not the full Sports Pack unlike Virgin and Sky. Plus if im not mistaken to get the Sports on BT you need to have BT Infinity

As for the pick of the games, there are 38 first pick games, BT have first choice for 18 of those, which is quite impressive

In what sense, Sky have first pick of 20 of the first 38 first pick games ( better selection ).
The picking process involves more issues than some might imagine, and Sky will undoubtedly apply their rights tactically, to ensure that a high proportion of the "must-have" matches continue to appear on Sky Sports; but nevertheless there are 18 match weeks where BT has first pick and no amount of tactics will deny BT from broadcasting some high-value matches that would have looked attractive were they in the Sky Sports schedule.

BT Sport won't be a like-for-like substitute for Sky Sports, but when bundled with BT Fibre, it may prove to be an attractive "bolt-on", and when sold directly by BT on the Sky platform, it should be possible for BT to significantly undercut the current bundled entry price of Sky Sports.

According to reports, Sky wanted a wholesale deal for BT Sport, so it could sell direct to its own customers. As it is, I suspect the point that will worry Sky, is that by selling BT Sport direct to Sky customers, BT has an opportunity to build a customer base of Sky subscribers, to whom they can then seek to sell other products/services such as telephone and Broadband/Fibre, that they currently take from Sky.

As a consumer , I say "let the battle commence"! :)

I think the chap who is purporting to be a 'Sky representative' should go back and check up on what he is talking about.

BT have purchased quite a number of the top rated matches in the Premier League. The dates may not yet have been fixed, but the matches themselves are know about, ie Man Utd vesus Chelsea, Arsenal v Spurs, etc. In fact, I understand that BT's allocation of matches is the 'prime pick' of the season, and that Sky were said to be very unhappy about BT winning them.

BT are due to start advertising the btsport channel in May so we should have more of an idea on pricing etc. It will be interesting to compare the cost of the channels on bt's platforms (vision and youview) to that of sky. Id imagine sky will be more expensive.

Sky have every right to be worried i think as BT are a cash rich company who could seriously rival them for sports rights. If, and it is still a big if, btsport proves successful then the next time the rights come up for bidding could be very interesting.

This deal is BT dipping their toe in the water to see if it helps bring them customers for triple play (phone, broadband and tv).
