Hi there,
I have had a 'Zoom' e mail address since time began
and usually just access it through the zoom website as and when I need to. However, lately the site has been takes ages to log in and sometimes it doesn't log in at all, so I wondered if anyone knows how I configure O.E to receive the e-mails?
My provider is the 'lovely' ntlworld and I have O.E configured to receive ntl emails, and I know how to go into the account stuff but can't suss out what to put in the POP and SMTP server bits.
It's not my most used e-mail account, but I still need it for certain things.
Thanks for any help

When you say Zoom I presume you mean this web site: http://webmail.zoom.co.uk/horde/imp/ ?
If so, are you sure it supports POP access? If you are, the settings should be available to you: if they are not displayed at login maybe you could contact the company and ask for the details? If you are not, may I once again suggest contacting the company and asking whether they support POP access to their emails and if so whether they would be willing to forward you the required settings?
Many webmail providers don't allow POP access as it means they don't get as much advertising revenue. Sadly I think this may be the case with zoom.
But make inquiries first, because I don't know for sure.

A quick look at the main Zoom web site has given me the correct settings to set up an account in Outlook: http://support.zoom.co.uk/support_email_options.asp?pid=1&location=zoom&id=1
Go into Outlook Express, click Tools: Accounts
Click Add, Email, Next
Enter your name
CLick Next
Enter your email address
(Now going from memory as don't use OE, so don't quote me)
Add the following settings:
Incoming Mail (POP3): pop3.zoom.co.uk
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.zoom.co.uk
Username and password: as supplied by zoom
Ensure both "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" and "My server requires authentication" are unticked
For more info go to the above web site

Thanks RichyRich - that's just the job!
Good of you to go to the trouble of looking up on the site for me - I had been trying to get on there most of the evening but it just wouldn't log onto either the site or the Webmail - probably summit down to Ntlworld!
Thanks again :beer:0 -
No worries, glad I could be of assistance
Hope it works for you
I hate setting email up, it never goes right first time!
