BA airmiles

I have a number of airmiles with BA; If I cannot use them within the prescribed time period, can I use them for anything else and what is the best way to set about this?
Can one usually get the flight requested with BA airmiles or are they very restricted?

in all honesty, it's all there on the BA site. Log into your exec club account and go to the spend miles section. For small amounts of miles the best redemptions as generally saver returns for 9000 miles and £30 tax. Availability isn't brilliant, but there's a tool that helps you identify when flights are available as rewards too.School is important, but Rugby is importanter.0

the miles expire after 3 years of non-usage. You could make a purchase through the BA shopping portal and that would keep them alive for another 3 years
Whether you get the flight you want depends on the route and time of year....getting a family of 4 to Florida in August will be an issue...the seats are released 11 months out and are snapped up very quickly.
You can use the points for hotels etc, all info on the BA website
You don't say how many you have but worth looking at reward flight savers (if you have activity in the previous 12 months)
I have flights in July EDI-LGW-FAO return and Sept EDI-LHR-PMI return for 15,000 miles and £30 for each return0 -
I have just over 11,000 miles. I've never used them before, so am clueless and once previously I lost them - out of time.
Are you saying you got 2 return flights for 15,000 miles from Edinburgh to Faro and Ed to PMI, (sorry don't know where that is?), by paying £30 for each return?0 -
11,000 Avios is enough for one return flight (or two one-ways) to a zone 1 destination (includes among others cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, and Berlin). The exact cost is 9000 Avios plus £30. If you're flying from the regions through London the domestic connection is free.
It's easy enough to check for availability, just log on to the BAEC and choose 'Spending Avios', then choose 'Book Flights with Avios'.0 -
The European Avios reward flights are excellent value and availability is reasonably good. However, the recent changes mean that long haul rewards aren't a good as they used to be and availability on popular routes is almost zero.0

The flights were 15,000 miles each (plus the £30....PMI is Palma, Mallorca, FAO is Faro, Portugal)
As has been said you only really have enough miles for one return ticket either domestic flights or zone 1 Europe, or 2 x one-ways0
