Looks if my suggestions are still winning, if the OP has just one PC!

The main thing is NOT to renew it online at the Kaspersky website - a ripoff!

But my suggestion enables the OP to get it free.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

loulou41 It's poor form to high jack another thread.

    Start a fresh one.

    OP
Open a Barclays account and get it free every year.

Totally genuine and a really good product.

Yes, but getting a Barclays online account is a form of cruel and unusual punishment!

Well apart from the simple fact that Warez is not really a good idea to source security from .
Kaspersky have a habit of blocking all the blacklisted keys on a frequent basis .

Here's a good reason for advising people to NOT use MSE for their AV protection.
You trust one website above specialised Tech websites with real users instead of "testers"?

Yes, MSE may not be the absolute best but the others are far from it. For instance Norton is terrible for getting off the PC after it's been installed. I read ZoneAlarm sent data back to them on what sites you'd been on (this was years ago) and Avast was the biggest resource hogger out of them all.
Many of the commercial anti-virus products throw up lots of false-positives (a virus which isn't really virus). This can be annoying if the PC is used with game trainers or other game related programs which need specific key clicks logged.

But then I am the type of internet user that could run without an Anti-virus and be fine ;) If you want "superior" protection, don't use the internet :P

My suggestion was to get an Anti-virus free - perhaps some people will give it a try and see if they DO get infected. I suspect not, but there's no reason not to give it a try at least.

This is a money saving website after all!

I trust the tests done by AV-Test.org as their results are recognised and often quoted throughout the internet's techie world and most of the main PC magazines eg PC Pro, Web User etc.

There are lots of reviews of MSE and other AV products around the net and at the end of the day each individual user will make their own choice about which product to use/try. If you are happy with MSE then good for you but not everyone is as careful or as pure in their surfing habits as you. In which case using MSE with it's poor protection/detection rate as opposed to another FREE product with superior protection/detection would not be a wise decision.

I am aware that this is a money saving website which is why I only listed its results compared to the other FREE AV programs tested.

Sometimes Money Saving means spending more for a superior product .I was put off ever using AVG when reading one tech help web site .99% of users with viral problems all had similar free AVG type AV programs running .
I monitor the AV comparatives results over fife years and the constant high pass rate for Eset or Kaspersky is all i go on .

Jje I agree completely. However, I hesitated recommending a paid for product as some posters in this thread become almost rabid in their condemnation of the poster and their suggestion that someone actually spends money "they don't need to".
