Card card REFUSED HELP

I have been refused a credit card but I don’t know why

I have never taken out a mortgage until November of 2012 andbrought a property to let. My current property is mortgage free.

I used to be offered credit cards every week but I refusedthem

This made me wonder so downloaded my credit report from Experian. It shows I have a credit score of 712 which it shows poor.

On the report it shows the searches for my mortgage and myrecent applied credit cards searches.
I have checked the report carefully and nothing seems wrong.I have never had a mortgage until lasy year and paid all bills on time andnever defaulted on payments.

So why so poor crediting rating.

Can someone please help or advice in what to do or to improveit so I can get a credit card

Thank you

Are there any credit accounts reported to CRAs?
If not, it's hardly a surprise that your score is low: Credit Ratings

That said, Experian's 720 figure is pretty much meaningless and is better to be ignored.

I hope you didn't pay more than £2 for this as thats all its worth. Well, in fact the credit score is worthless, but the credit report is worth £2.

Just because one company has refused you doesn't mean everyone will.

One of the biggest reasons for credit card or loan refused applications is Over Borrowing & No credit history.

Take it in the branch Why?

If you've never had a credit card and your bank has told you to do one then Cap1 classic or Vanquis is your answer.

I disagree. By taking it into a branch someone could telephone the lending team and see if the decision can be overturned.

It might work it might not.
  • i am going to take it into the branch and see what there say
    it can do no harm

Someone's going to phone the lending team and say Mr Afzal wants a credit card and the lending team says "how's his credit history of managing credit cards before been like" Bank advisor says " well he hasn't got any I'm afraid"

If might work Jones but can't see it myself.
  • yeah but i have been a customer with this bank for the last 10 years

It won't hurt taking your report to your bank but I wouldn't hold your breath as being a long term customer don't really matter these days.
