New ADSL BB please help!

Hi I'm very new to setting up new BB cos have been using the school one.

Going to move into new flat and there's no cable connection so I'm stucked with ADSL. Would you guide me through the process?

1) Setting up a phone line with BT.
Is BT the only company to request a phone line/number? I do not need to call at all so it's best to get the cheapest possible option available.

2) Look up for an ISP.
I have no problem to sign a 12-month contract. BB has to be at least 2MB and preferbly with unlimited download limit (my average monthly traffic amount to around 40GB). Perferbly less than 15-pound pcm; need to take into account the activation fee and/or exit fee after 12-month.

Would really appreciate if someone can guide me through this. Thanks in advanced.

Some have monthly contracts.

Be aware for a cheap price you do not always get the best service.

There are quite a few threads on here already discussing broadband isp's. It would be worth checking them out.
