Hi can anyone help?
We loose connection and have to turn the router off for a minute and then back on again for about five or six times before we're connected.
I have checked the connections and they seem fine,
I have a filter fitted followed by an extension to the wall socket (this was the only way I could do it)
My PS3 (Wifi) also goes down
We still have a phone signal
Maybe this mainly happens around 10pm but not exclusively
Problem seemed to start when new neighbours moved in two weeks ago, the previous occupants didn't have the internet (not sure if that's relevant)
My download speed averages 3.5 kbps to 4
I have run registry mechanic and various clean ups but I think the problem must not be with my PC
I'm certainly a little cuckoo when it comes to techy stuff! so please could you give me a step by step fault finding guide or any kind of suggestions
Many thanks Excell.

right firstly you got filters on every phone socket?0
-
Only got the one and yes it has.
Phone and router go into the filter then an extension to the socket.0 -
Have you reported the problem to your ISP for them to investigate at their end?0
-
right with "only got the one" is that just you only have one phone socket or have several phone sockets but only have one filter fitted because thats what they supplied?Only got the one and yes it has.
Phone and router go into the filter then an extension to the socket.
because if is the latter you should have fitted on all phone sockets a filter this includes any sky boxes or other phones etc etc. because this will kill the broadband if you haven't!0 -
I have only one socket, one phone and one filter- I have not reported the problem as I thought I would ask the forum first.

This sounds like your wifi connection is getting interference from neighbouring devices.
To confirm whether the loss is just on wifi, connect a laptop/PC directly to the router using an ethernet cable and see if you can still access the internet when wireless devices lose connection.
Then download and run inSSIDer on a laptop/PC with a wifi connection. This will show the channel numbers being used by all wireless routers within range. You can then log into your router's admin pages and change the channel number so it is not conflicting. How do I add a signature?0 -
If I am reading the OP correctly it sounds like you have the filter in the wrong place, it is the line out to the phone that needs the filter, the line to the router does not need one.
Not sure what effect a filter in the router line would have but .....0 -
got some router stats can put up please as this info will help as well0

I have my filter connected in this order- phone and router to filter then extension from the filter to the wall socket.
My PS3 is using wifi but my PC is on a LAN connection. (I think that's what you call it?)
My router is a netgear DG834G v3 secured with a WEP0 -
Firstly it's not a wifi issue as you say it's wired and wireless that are affected.
You need to start from the master socket and elliminate the rest.
My first test is always to connect the modem directly into the 'test' socket located behind the master socket faceplate. You are allowed to remove the faceplate. If it then works reliably you have a problem with the phone extension cable or other device. If it's still unstable then time to call the ISP to report a fault.
More info here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/troubleshooting.htm and here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm
However, if you're using one of those really thin phone extension leads where you can see the 4 wires in a flat cable without an outer surrounding cover (like this one) then I'd also be suspicious of that, I've had ADSL disconnection issues when people use these nasty thin extension leads.
