Most people do - myself included. Despite being a singleton living alone i now won't even consider a one bedroom flat. Two minimum, I couldn't go back to a studio. As nice as some are, they're very much aimed at the bottom end of the market in most cases.

The trouble is, 1- and 2- bed places are out of the price range in many areas. A studio's your lot. In my area a 1-bed starts at an extra £120/month and a 2 bed an extra £240/month.

That's pretty reasonable - Up North is so much cheaper.

I currently rent a three bedroomed multi floor stone built property for £450PCM, looking at moving into a ground floor 2 bed flat on the coast for £400.

See what you get for £400 near London

I agree with that. Live i the midlands (ok so not terribly north haha) and the studio I used to live in had a separate kitchen, with a bath and a shower, main room wasn't massive but I had a double bed and room for furniture - £150 per month. Sure, its not typical of the area, but shows how cheap you can get them. I now live in a 1 bed as my LL was selling up, £350 p/m
