It makes sense. I suppose it works both ways, if you are handling money every day, who wants to be then licking their fingers to open the bags.

After thanking her I went off to the desk and asked to speak to a manager. The lady froze with impending doom but I said it was all good. A young manager came up and straight away I told him that this young lassie had made my shopping trip so much more pleasurable and that they were very lucky to have her on their staff. I gave him her name and he promised he would tell her. I also said that if there were more cashiers like this lady then shopping would not be such a chore.

Must be something about Carlisle. About 2/3 years ago I dropped in at the Table Table restaurant just off the M6 at Carlisle. Had been there a few times previously with good service but nothing exceptional. On this particular visit, we got the same waitress for the full meal and the service was exceptional in so many ways. I'm sure the tip she got made her realise how good she was but I also got in touch with the Area Manager who also followed up on her performance.
