Did you read past the first post?

Why would the national lottery be subsidising skiing holidays?
If you had read the whole thread (which was started in early 2013) you would have gathered that the OP's daughter is a young carer - and the group that was having the cost of the trip subsidised was a young carers' group - in other words children and teenagers who have the care of a parent as their main focus in life.
Such children/teenagers deserve the chance to be able to behave as their contemporaries from time to time.0 -

Thank you
Young carer's groups do an amazing amount of work with children who spend their time caring for a close relative. In order to carry out their work, they often apply for funding, with the National Lottery being one group who will fund things. As well as the skiing trip, they have funded other activities which benefit the young carer. Many young carers have found help and support through these groups, including my own daughters and their work is invaluable

Glad your daughter enjoyed her skiing trip.

Thank you, she did.
I was so worried at the time just because she was far from home but she went and has so many memories to look back on
She still skis but most of her time now is dedicated to MMA and honestly, the first ever competition she had, where she fought against boys  was much scarier than her skiing in the Alps!

Why would you bump an 18 month old thread with such a random question?
Edit to add: Glad your daughter had a fab time pipkin, I went on a school ski trip to Austria when I was a similar age. It was brilliant and I'm so glad I was able to go.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
I went on a Ski trip twice with the school when I was around 15, I had a fantastic time! Ski-ing is quite easy to pick up if you have the right instruction and it's always a laugh! I had a fantastic time on both of my trips to Austria, I thoroughly recommended it!0

As it's now been resurrected, can I say my daughter had a fantastic time and loved every minute of the trip.
'Course she did; all of us snowsports types had every confidence.
My first time was when I got my first salary cheques after university in 1977: off next January even if I can't afford it really (although I've lots of connections where I'm going), but that's what budgets are for: it's the biggest line on it!0
