    hey
im posting this in the hope to try and find out how to help a friend of mine, she received this yellow card on thursday (7th june) which had been dated 1oth april from allied, she rang them straight away and they said she owed a little over £1000 from a focus store card and she had till monday (11th june) to pay it all, the man was extremely rude and obnoxious he asked her how many cars she had as he was going to arrange for them to be taken, she explained she had 9 children and he said as far as he was concerned this debt came before putting food in her childrens mouths!!! they dont have her phone number as she changed it but he continously harrassed her for it to the point he had her in tears, surely this is totally unacceptable??? she has managed to get about £500 together but is terrified of them shouting at her again and refusing it, they have threatened her with sending 'big men' round to visit her i told her that we will call them tomorrow offer the £500 if they get nasty i will tell them where to go and put the phone down am i right? what wld be our next step, she wants to pay this off and get it off her back but in installments what rights does she? have pls help

    kind regards

  • Hey guys, I'm new to the site. Its nice to see everyone looking after each other!

I'm in a spot of bother with AIC and an outstanding debt of approx £1000, the guy at AIC says I have to pay the entire amount outright to avoid legal action but I've heard that an agreement can be made to pay the amount in installments and as long as you keep them up then theres not much they can do. Could anyone advise me on this if possible? I've tried citizens advice but they're impossible to get hold of!

Also could someone tell me what CCA stands for? I've trawled the internet and forums and can't seem to find it anywhere.

Any help would be really appreciated

I dealt with AIC years ago, I would deal with only by paper and make a separate complaint to the financial ombudsman at the abuse that was levelled at you and your husband by phone.

Courts really don't like it when companies will not accept reasonable offers, that is resonable in what you can afford not reasonable in terms of the % of the debt.
  • Hi, i'm wondering if anyone can help me, i have been getting calls from the AIC all they are doing is leaving automated massages asking for me to ring them back, however i can not think what this could be do with, i have had no letters about a debt, the only thing i can think of is i had a debt with the natwest, however this was paid off in full with Triton credit about 3 months ago, all i want to do is get them to stop calling me or to tell me what this is about

Firstly, i would probably advise you create your own thread on this question, as its a new issue.

As to advise, they probably want you to ring and a premium rate number, so i wouldn't ring them. If you are having a lot of phone calls there is a letter which requests them to stop ringing and communicate in writing only. Do not acknowledge to owing a debt or make any payment towards it until you have sought advice.

Before contacting them, await for advice from others on this forum as i am often wrong. It may yet be best to ignore them.

  • Does the fact that a bill has been passed to them affect one's credit rating?

The fact that late payments or a default has been registered on your credit records affects your credit rating.

Most creditors will have done the first if not both before sending the debt to a DCA.

    does that happen automatically?
  • Today I received a letter from AICwho said the loan I owe of £14500 has been passed on to them by Lloyds TSB. They are demanding full repayment or they will take me to court and send bailiffs round put a charging order on my house etc. Can anyone tell me if they can do this or would I just get a CCJ to pay in instalments.
