Opinions on 1st class train travel

Evening all....
I'm doing a marathon in Edinbrough in 6 weeks, so looking to book train tickets now whilst they are cheap. I've noticed that to go 1st class it is only an extra £10 each way. It is over a 2 hour journey, and i'll be going by myself. I just wondered if people thought it would be worth paying the extra money.
Was debating doing it for the return journey simply because there is extra room and i'm gonna be exhausted from the marathon. Might be nice to relax. Never traveled 1st class, so not sure its even worth it!
Opinions please??

I'd definitely upgrade for £10 each way. You get free tea and coffee and nicer seats/quieter carriages etc.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
If your travelling East Coast, You find it worthwhile as you will be well fed.0

Certainly a no brainer to upgrade for that price. Depending who you are travelling with, Wi-Fi will probably be free in 1st class, so you can take your laptop / tablet (if you have one) to keep you amused.
If you think about it, If you went normal class and paid for your drinks, you would probably spend the £10 each way in drinks and snacks on the train anyway, so you may as well upgrade to 1st class. You will get your drinks and snacks for free, nicer place to sit, papers to read etc0 -
Do it for that price.Well looked after with East Coast."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

On some routes the service level is less at weekends (e.g. no at table service).
This said if you're running a marathon it's worth it whatever for the extra comfort!
East Coast looked after me very well in First coming all the way down from Aberdeen to the south - the snacks, coffee, wine, wifi, peace and quiet etc made it well worth it for an almost 7 hour trip!0 -
Mine is only a 2 hour journey, and to be honest, i've reserved a single seat so no poor soul has to sit next to me first thing on a morning (its a midnight marathon) after doing over 26 miles on foot. Lol. :-)Slimming World Challenge 2017 0/30.5lb

You could at least take a shower before boarding train.0
