Sounds like you used number 3 then

I do object to having to pay for one in the first place and then having to pay to update it every 10 years, I know it's irrational but it makes sense to me, my paper licence should do me till I get to 70;)
Hey, I got an idea that will help you with the problem of paying the hairdresser. Just apply the same 'principle' to your hair - - it should last you at least until 70, without a hairdresser's bill.

LBG, RBS Group and the Post Office all use Chip & Pin for over the counter withdrawals - so no ID needed for haircut type cash.

My hairdresser has moved salons and she hasn't got a credit card machine in the new place yet, I forgot about this.I don't carry much cash and I was in a smallish town with 3 ATM s 2 of them were offline with a system fault precisely when I needed more cash. Hairdresser would have waited for payment I know her well but I don't like owing money hence the hunt for a working cash machine.

I don't have a photo driving licence on principle, so what other document is there that I could carry around in my purse to use when photo ID is required by the bank say? Anything else I am not aware of?

Shotgun licence- but don't take the gun with you when visiting the bank

I don't think OP will be paying for a gun license he won't use when he won't pay for a driver's licence that he will.
