How is Homebuyer survey arranged ?

I am hopeful of having an offer accepted imminently on a 7year old house so am opting for a homebuyer survey rather than the full structural survey.

Could anyone help advise how this is arranged ?? Through my conveyancer, through the mortgage provider or even independently ??

I have read I may be able to get it done by the mortgage valuation surveryors at the same time which can save on cost, is this a realistic option ??

Also is it important to complete the survey before any further checks and costs are added through the converyancer ??

    Ask your mortgage lender how much extra a Home buyers Report would be on top of their Valuation.

    Then ring a few RICS surveyors and get independant quotes.

    Then decide.

    As for timing, it is up to you. Getting things arranged in parallel can be faster if speed matters to you (or your vendor).

    Holding the legal work (& hence legalcosts) till a satisfactory survey is complete could save you money if you pull out of the purchase.

    Go to your local library and borrow a book on house buying. It will walk you through the next 3 months so you know what to expect, what is going on, what the solicitor, mortgage lender, agent, seller etc are talking about etc
