Hi all,

I have just bought a SIM from 02, which I will use in my existing Sony Erriccson 750 phone which is unlocked, although always plays an annoying T-Mobile start-up tone (because I got it from T-mobile originally).

I have tried to delete the sound, but it won't allow it...

As I am now on 02 I really don't want the start-up sound from T-Mobile, can anyone help?:o

  • is that the d750i? If so, there is no way to delete the sound, you have to debrand the phone, basically flash generic firmware onto it in order to get rid of the t-mobile start up sound. It will end up with the SE start up sound though. I don't think there is a simple way of just disabling the start up sounds on that phone. I flashed my d750i to a w800 walkman, and the annoying sound went away and I had a cool deep sound replace it. Looks much better too :D

Debrand it, www.wotanserver.com £5 - 7 Euros, use the cable that came with it.

Or got to your local shop/stall and get them to do it.

Hmmm, a bit more techie than I understand - may have to take it to a local store. If I am going to keep the thing for another 12 months it may ensure my sanity!

So I can 'flash' the phone so that it's 'insides' are the w800??? That sounds great! I would mainly like to remove start-up/shutdown sounds but if i can get a 'new' phone in the process that would be great too...

Yes, the hardware is exactly the same, but the flashing upgrades your phone to the w800 walkman model, so you get an improved music/mp3 player where you can have tracks sorted by artist/album. That's the best bit I loved about it, not to mention the more exciting interface than the boring d750i t-mobile one. And the middle @ button on the phone turns to a shortcut to the mp3 player which means no more gprs data charges when it was pressed by mistake! grrr

You can do the flashing by yourself if you like, all the files and instructions are on the web. That's how I did it. Did have to read a bit though to make sure I didn't end up with a brick. But once you have understood the steps, its easy as 123.

On the other hand, you can get it done by a shop. Would save you all the hassle :D

i recently upgraded a later CID49 k750i to w800i, it only took 10 mins to do it.

if you want to do it yourself, follow my guide here to debrand the phone. if you want it to be a w800i, just select the w800i flash files
