Lloyds TSB PPI

Hi guys new to this advise much appreciated!!

I put in a claim to TSB over the phone for ppi mis sold on a couple of loans! I had a letter back yesterday (5 weeks), they will pay out on one which is great! But the recent one PPI at £25.77 (think the loan was for about £5,000),paid for 38 months they say they wont pay out on as I did the loan over the phone and the salesperson did not mis sell, as they went over everything & I was sent policy documents!!. I told them that I wasnt advised I could get it cheaper elsewhere and didnot receive policy documents!! is it worth challanging?? I workd out it would be owed £979 at least!! (I was self employed at the time) HELP xx:money:

  • Another newbie here, both to the forum and the whole PPI scenario.

I've just received a letter from Nationwide, 'inviting' me to complain. I've posted about this elsewhere and am confident that I have a case to be answered.

Back on thread, I have also had 5 no. personal loans (all with PPI, rolled into one single premium) with Lloyds(TSB) over the years, from around 1990 to around 2003. Now I am no expert in this, but I have read online that older loans are harder to win as banks are not required to keep records beyond 6 years or something?

I used to have all my paper bank statements, but I binned them all a few years ago during a move... for which I feel a little foolish now.

Any help/guidance/advise on whether I should pursue these cases; I would guess that the total amount I borrowed from Lloyds(TSB) over that time amounts to nearly £20K.

    Many thanks :)

You dont have to be advised of this, and if you were told you were going to receive them, why didn't you ask for them?
You can forward the complaint to the Ombudsman if you liek but if they do have a recording of the conversation, your complaint is likely to be over [unles they were fined for selling in this fashion during the period you took your loan]

Send a SAR to see whats left, although, you only need your account numbers and a complaint reason.

Have a search about single premium and consolidated loans.

    Thanks for replying :)

By 'account number' do you mean the current account number from which I paid off these loans? If so, well... it's still my current account now!

Oh, and the loans (4 no. not 5 no. as I previously thought) were not consolidating other debts, they were all taken out separately after the previous one was paid off (car loans, as and when I replaced my car every 3/4 years).

All loans were a single premium though.

Right, well I don't know those - I'll have to send an SAR I think.

FYI, I decided to just fill out a FOS claim form (downloaded from LloydsTSB website) for each claim (2 loans, 2 claim forms). These were posted off on 9th May and I received notification that my claims were being investigated by letter on 15th May.

    Still waiting for further news.

You could be waiting 18 months, so don't wait too hard.

They'll be waiting only around eight weeks, it was a FOS questionnaire they sent to the Bank-not an Ombudsman referral!:p
