It's one way of getting him off ESA. I presume he's also been found fit to work in his absence.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

    Pack of lies.

He's obviously seriously mentally ill and the ATOS muppet is obliged to pass certain things to the police or his doctor if need be. Nothing wrong with that.

And we -like his family- have very few facts.

Difficult to comment when we only have a small segment of the story. However, I'm not sure why this is being made into an ATOS issue - they alerted the police to threatening behaviour, which is procedure for any medical professional in such a situation. I can't see that they have had any influence on what has happened past that point?

Don't let that spoil a good ATOS bashing thread.

He was arrested for his own protection and taken to a psyc unit for evaluation. They appear to have said that there is nothing wrong with him, so they re-arrested him and so far he has been denied police bail, is on remand and the hearings are being held in private??

But then the 'offence' seems to centre around someone that wasn't at the ATOS assessment - During the process Mr Topley made some comments about someone not present at the assessment.

It certainly doesn't sound like that he was abusive or threatening to any ATOS employee.

    Something very very iffy there!!

    Obviously seriously mentally ill?
    Based on what?
He apparently has no history of mental illness and was forced to have a mental health assessment at Queens Medical Centre Nottingham immediately after the incident which found him to be sane.

I would hazard a guess that the ATOS assessor having not bothered to read his medical history, and having no expertise in mental health, wrongly jumped to the conclusion he was mentally ill and dangerous so they called the police and he was taken for a mental health evaluation. When he may have just been very upset and annoyed and verbally letting off steam and was by all accounts not even verbally threatening towards anyone present.

    His medical conditions are:
    Heart replacement valve
Survived cancer but is minus one of his kidneys.
On a strict medication regime including warfarin to help stabilise his blood levels, and maintain a safe blood pressure.
Reynard’s and if cut his body struggles to form clots in his blood.

The police were called because he was deemed to present a threat to another person, no one suggested he threatened the assessor. This is correct procedure - where harm to a third party is threatened, the clinician is obliged to notify the relevant authorities.

I'd have thought you would have known all about that, Andy? :p

We will have to wait and see if the threat was credible and why he was draged off to a mental health assessment. Hopefully he was actually making a credible threat or was acting in a manner that a reasonable person would think indicated he was seriously mentally ill. Otherwise it would be a sledge hammer to crack a walnut if say he was merely very distressed and ranting about what fate he wished befell IDS or Cameron.

In the first place why are you calling me Andy when that is not my name and never has been?

In the second, surprisingly yes I do know all about that. I attended one of my sessions of Cognitive therapy many years ago and mentioned some thoughts that I was having to him. I was immediately put in a taxi along with my CPN, wasn't allowed to go home and taken to a mental health secure unit for assessment. For the first 4 days I wasn't allowed off the ward, then the following 2 days was allowed off with my wife and on the 7th day was given home leave.

It is very frightening to have it happen and there are only two ways that you can react to the forcible removing - anger or be subdued.

Lots of guesswork, hearsay and keybard advisers.

    Let's wait for some facts.

I would want ATOS informaing the police too if the person thought they had to. We'd all be up in arms if they didn't and something happened.

I'm sure we'll find out as Mr Topley will be quite happy to repeat what he said (or whatever version has tells us).

As for the attempted section he'd need to be very ill (danger to himself or others) for them to have him locked up. Again, it's guesswork and we'll never know as it's a private matter.

Personally, I find it shocking he's not been bailed or released. Let's hope he gets a proper lawyer (the problem seems to lay there).
