Another week and I'm still well within my budget and all I need this week will be some veg, fruit and sandwich meat so I think I'm definately on track for this month, can't wait to see OH face when he sees how much I've saved :j Bare in mind I used to spend £450 - £500 a month on food and waste loads  This month we've eaten meals that have been tasty and all homemade, I'd say we'd eaten better than usual if I'm honest and OH is getting used to the HM cake in his lunchbox.

Have to confess that last week I didn't stick to my meal plan totally  I substituted things because we both fancied a curry, usually when we get these 'cravings' we head off to the takeaway and spend about £20, but I decided to make a curry from what we had in, so made a mince beef curry from the mince in the freezer and used up tins from the cupboard. I was out of chickpeas so added some cannellini beans instead and they worked fine, made loads and froze some for the next time we fancy curry at a moments notice, it came out lovely! OH labelled it "Yummy mince beef curry" and stuck it in the freezer, also made a couple of portions for OH to take to work, something he's doing now instead of sandwiches every day and his work mates are making comments about how he eats better than them :A I also swapped two days around so I could batch bake and use the oven more efficiently, not a biggie just poor planning on my part originally. I'm finding it easy because I have lots in the cupboards and freezer at the minute, a little worried that things will go pear shaped once the stocks dwindle. Sorry if I go on a bit, just helps to tell someone and it helps me keep on track lol!

So this week..... Breakfasts same as last week toast from bread made in the BM and banana porridge or some cereal & fruit. Lunches weekdays sandwiches & fruit or HM meal, weekends Chicken Fajita's for today and Seafood Tuna Baked Potato & Salad on Sunday. We only have 'hot' dinners at weekend when we're both at home.

    Teas

    Today – Lasagne & Salad
Sunday – Chicken Breast’s, Mash, Carrots, Peas, Stuffing & Gravy.
Monday – Fish, Chips & Peas
Tuesday – Chilli (from freezer), Rice & Tortillas
Wednesday – Toad In The Hole, Mash, Veg & Gravy
Thursday – Chicken Tikka, Rice & Naan
Friday – Sweet Chilli Chicken & Rice

Using salad grow in garden eg sorrel, rocket, lollo rosso and endive so saving money on green salad this week, aside from the bits listed in the opening paragraph I have everything else in the cupboards or freezer to make the meals this week plus will be making some more HM puddings and cakes. Here's to another week of sticking to my guns :)

You have done so well:T ....keep up the good work. I used to spend about the same as you per month and was a total food snob:o ....dont get me wrong, there are still certain items I wont compromise on (heinz, tetley, nescafe, decent bread, etc) but I now buy on offer and cut back on other things. We have a take-away sometimes and I now dont beat myself up about it.

    Hi all,

Have just updated my signature... maybe I put a little too much aside for spending this month! Not that I am complaining, it's nice to underspend for a change than overspend :D

Ok, so my mealplans for the week look like this:

Saturday: HM Pizza and HM Wedges
    Sunday: Lamb and Roast Veg
    Monday: Vegetable Curry and Rice
    Tuesday: Tuna and Tomato Pasta
Wednesday: Egg, HM Chips and beans
    Thursday: Vegetable Bake
    Friday: HM Chilli and Rice

Breakfasts will be fruit/smoothies (due to my recent kitchen addition of a smoothie maker!)... lunches for work (two days this week due to being on hols on Friday :j ) will be sandwiches or pasta, not quite decided yet lol

    Have a great week,

    Sarah xx

Hi! haven't posted here for a while, but always good to see what others are eating and get some ideas! We usually have a Sunday roast which then takes care of at least the next couple of days, but I fancied a change this week. So:
    Saturday - lasagne and salad
Sunday - salmon, new pots & brocolli
Monday -Sausages, mushrooms, bacon & chips
Tuesday - lemon baked chicken (found recipe in slow-cooker book, not yet tried!
Wednesday - Fresh pasta, pesto & salad
    Thursday - Liver & bacon
    Friday - quiche & salad
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
