I've been hunting for the best deal, for weeks.it's driving me slightly bonkers!
I was going to do a cash back scheme, so i would get free phone free line rental(if I didn't mess it up) and free calls and texts.
Bu t I have decided I don't want the stress,I could cope with 2 casback vouchers, but they all seem to be 5,so i'd be worrying about sorting out the next one all the time, and it's just not worth the stress.

I have just started using my partners old phone, which is excellant,so i am happy with the phone i've got.I hardly use it for many calls, and at present have a free deal with O2 which is about to expire,I only get 25mins and 25 texts per month,I rarely use all the talk time, for fear of using it up frivolously, incase i need it more later!.
ideally I would have a minimum of 100 mins talk time and 100 texts per month.
O2 offered me... (...cant remember now, looked at so many deals!) 100/200 mins talk and 100/200 texts. for £18,plus £100 credit. This doesn't seem like a particularly great deal.

So ideally I would like a cheap(£15 ish) simple, trouble free, not cash back claiming, 12 month (18 m considered).preferably that I can go through quidco to buy,and with a free handset,I can sell on ebay.

I'm so sick of looking, and have to actually chose something and order it as I am going away in a few days and my contract will expire whilst away.
Oh,and it needs to be on O2 or orange,as we live in a village and they seem to get best most reliable signal.
Please help and advise if you've seen a good deal.have even considered going back to PAYG,because I hardly use it most of the time then there are occasions when I don't want to have to be so careful.

  • Well, o2 has got the online 20 which gives you 125 mins and 50 texts and a selection of free phones including the u600 which would probably fetch you the most on ebay; at least 150 quid. With quidco this comes to less than a tenner a month for the 18 months.

On the other hand, if you take the racoon tariff with orange costing 25 quid a month, you get 225 mins/100 txts+unlimited evening/weekend calls to landlines. Get the w610i/k800/w850i, should get you at least 100 on Ebay. You also get 100 credit from orange for taking out the 18 month plan, so it all works out to 12 quid a month after going through quidco.

I think the second one is your best bet.

The deal o2 offered you to stay, is it 12 month contract or 18 month?

If 12 months, it works out at £116 for year which is £9.66/month
If 18 months, it works out at £224 for year which is £12.44/month

The above takes into account the £100 credit o2 are offering.
If you dont use the phone much this doesnt look too bad and is without any hassle of selling phone on ebay etc etc

Don't forget the Virgin Mobile Sim deal for £10 a month you get 300 mins talk and 300 text. The best I've seen and customer service is great with free voicemail.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
  • Ive been using an O2 Genie sim card for yonks now and have even got all my mates and family members to use the sim cards aswell because they're so good (and u benefit more if ur callin other o2 no's)!

You top up £10 p/month (PAYG so no contract) and get 300 free txts and then use the £10 a month for calls (alternatively u cud pay £15 for 500txts if u wanted). Bearing in mind the call rates are reduced to 5p/min after first 3mins to other O2 customers+landlines, I can honestly say ive never used the full £10 a month on calls (and im not that tight with calls either lol). Also once uve bin a customer for 6months you receive 'O2 Treats' for doing nothing basically lol...which are things like free calltime etc (i currently get 15mins free a month which is fine 4me).

This SIM wud be ideal for ne1 who's happy with their fone and jus wants to wack a new SIM in.

Feel free to PM me if your interested though as I even have a spare SIM u cud have :)

Like ioscorpio said, 3 mobile can be a very good deal. I went to them from a cashback company for the reduced hassle and peace of mind.

Rather than repeat myself, I'll link to the post where I describe the deal I have. Works out around £6.50/month for a good phone:

But then some of the offers I was looking at expired in March. Hopefully similar offers still exist though !
