    My son was not 16 till 31st august and he got a job that summer.
    I don't know what people are talking about as long as he has finished his formal education (year 11) its fine.
    My son got a job in the may as he had finished his exams.
    He got a reference from his school, which helped and started work in a spray shop.
    Within 18 months he was his own boss.
