SP, you have to accept that the world we live in isn't fair. If it was, we wouldn't have inequality, people dying of starvation or people with so much money they can afford to buy x number of tropical islands.
People with PhDs have made a contribution to society. They have researched and developed new ideas which have helped to enhance the society in which we live.
Now tell me why should somebody with a PhD not benefit from a free upgrade when the likes of Posh, Jade Goody et al (who haven't done anything helpful to our society at all), get every freebie going? Where is the justice in that?
Wake up to the real world Phil and be thankful for those that have the patience to complete a PhD as they are the ones who can help make positive changes to the world in which we (and YOU) live.
When you compared it to pop stars, what you say is correct!!
I probably did get on my high horse a bit too much about equality. Sure people in research really do help advance the world:beer:0 -
