employing a nanny - advice needed please

Am I the only one thinking it's a bit weird to try to find a nanny on gumtree? It's not like you're looking for a new sofa; this is the person who's going to be completely responsible for your children. Insist on qualifications and/or use an agency."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I'd suggest contact your local Social Care (social work) Children with Disabililties Team. They are far more likely to point you in the right direction than looking on Gumtree. Incidentally, there may well be other nurseries who would be prepared to take your younger child particularly if some extra support could be arranged (Probably paid by parents at this age although you may be able to access Portage or equivalent for specialist support).somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

I know how hard it is to find childcare for children with special needs as my son is nearly 5 and he has been with us since he was 3 he attended a special needs nursery from 2 onwards, and it has been quite hard to find a childminder to cope as he needs extra supervision at all times. However we were open with our sons needs from the beginning and we did find someone. perhaps you could make enquiries at local childminders and find out if they have vacancies as your son with special needs is very young what extra help do you envisiage he needs do you mean with feeding etc. I am sure that if you called round you may be surprised as to who could help you. Good Luck. Again Portage have been very good for us and helped us out too.

The original post was 2 months ago, so I'm guessing the OP is back at work by now.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
