This is for a journalist writing a story about the FOS.

Has anyone here on this forum had any problems getting their PPI calculations from the Financial Ombudsman Service.

THANK YOU,

Ian.

The FOS doesnt go PPI calculations. The providers do it. The calculation methods use are defined by the FCA. On upheld complaints, the FOS tells the firm to calculate the redress.

Such questions should surely be asked of the financial institution paying the redress, no?

I agree, however the FOS would not provide the figures despite the financial institution agreeing to let the consumer see them.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. If the Bank agreed to provide a breakdown of the calculation, then why didn't they simply send it direct to the customer? How was FOS involved in this? As already stated, FOS just instruct the Bank to calculate redress in line with FCA guidelines.

I suggest the journalist contact the Financial Ombudsman Service direct for comment.

The FOS does not supply all things to the consumer in the same way it does not do supply the firm everything the consumer supplies. There is no reason for the FOS to withhold calc data as the firm present that to the consumer anyway. Perhaps it is because they know the firm present it that they do not see a need to do so themselves. Such calculations come with compliance/legal messages and it is for the firm to present those. Not the FOS.

Please don't post your question (which has already been answered elsewhere) in random threads.
