From my experience, the older you get, the less difference it makes what your car is.

When I sold my 2-seater sports car and replaced it with a cheap little city car, it made no difference at all to my premiums.

They seem to have decided that I'm a low enough risk that it doesn't matter what I drive.

In all honesty, I find this even now at 20, being passed for about 7 or 8 months

Take the Fiat Punto for example. Insurance group 3. I have a Honda Civic hybrid in insurance group 8, which is cheaper to insure, as well as being a bigger and more powerful car

I think part of it comes down to the image of the car to insurers. How many boy racers drive a hybrid? And how many drive a "cheap" punto?

I did find an increase in insurance between my Civic and a Toyota Yaris though

Its true it can be a bit odd how some cars are treated, but one thing to consider is how secure the car is, the easier it is to steal the more likely it is somebody may try.
