Rubbing our noses in it

With the introduction of the 'bedroom tax' and its financial implications there was a 'Great' job vacancy advertised on my Local Councils web site today, currently recruiting for a position in the Housing Benefit Department on a short term contract, Salary = £18 per hour...........irony? I had to laugh

I don't think 18 per hour is so much, after all they may only have the job for a few weeks, I read that being in housing isn't a job that anyone can do and they always want a lot of experience.

I'd rather see the Council Tax spent on wages rather than benefits and letting people of without paying at all :-)

Lets hope we see more jobs and then we may just agree that all of these changes are a good idea. I'm undecided at the moment and thankful that Universal Credits have been delayed - well for me anyway! For now!

    Why not apply for it?

Wish I was on £18 per hour :(
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Isn't that an unusual way to advertise that sort of employment?

What's unusual about that? It was on the council's own website.

I don't consider £18 particularly high; the workload will be incredibly high and the customer base generally stroppy. Lots of unhappy people to deal with.

OP, instead of whinging about the irony of someone being employed to work within the HB department (which is not ironic in the least!), why not apply for it? If you don't have the skills then why not apply to college to get the right skills?

Assuming that the suggestion is that that is a lot, it's about equivalent to £32k salary, which isn't a lot in London.
Given that it's a short-term contract, it's not exactly living it up in whoopy-doo land!

The amount of time you spend on here looking at the comments you make and seem to have an opinion on everything plus your name is reminiscent of a Skyrim character i wonder if you are really just being objective or obnoxious

I'm delighted that you've taken the time to peruse some of my past posts :rotfl: A surprising number of people appear to agree with my posts. Interesting.

Dovah_Diva I find the English translation of your name intriguing and it says it all. Dovah (skyrim speak for Dragon) Diva (Female Deity) Must have an over inflated opinion of yourself. But nevermind the walls will tumble down as there are no more Dragons and no Female gods left.

Skyrim speak, what language is that exactly?
