Upgrading phone on T-Mobile

Hello my dad has been on T-Mobile network ever since one 2 one network was taken over by t mobile. Hes only been upgrading only the last 2 years which he recieves "cheap/budget" phones for free. Hes bill is around £25.00 and uses a tariff which they don't provide any more (I fink)

I was wondering if he is allowed to get the top of the range phone for free?

  • Mac21,
does he need to stay with Tmobile? If not then he can get some good phones with other networks as a new contract customer. Plenty available on https://www.e2save.com etc. There are always the free line rental deals also.
...and then the window licker said to me...

I don't fink so, I guess he doesn't but hes happy with T-Mobile. Am wondering is it worth the try foning T-Mobile and use the "I want to leave thing" but am worried about the success rate of it.

I thought there was deals/special offers for loyal customers but all networks care bout is new customers, they seem to get better benefits den existing loyal customers.
  • Mac21,
Give their customer retentions a call and ask for his PAC number. This usually stimulates a conversation along the lines of "Why do you want to leave us?". Lay your cards on the table, you can get a Nokia 6230 with half price line rental on another network, for instance. See which way they jump.
Or become a new customer to Tmobile by porting the old number to a PAYG sim on another network then porting it back. I also read that there is the chance that they will just transfer your existing number across to the new contract but have yet to have this confirmed by anyone.
    Good luck.

Networks care most about customers who make them money and £25 a month isn't really doing that... people who are spending quite a bit over their contracted amount will get good upgrade deals on better phones.

New customers get better deals as they have potential, in the network's eyes, to make them money depending on their spending... they just don't know whether the potential will be fulfilled or not until they have them using their network.

    What Malolo said.

THe only way he will get a top of the range phone free, is if he spends like £100 per month.

Your better off getting your pac number and going else where, then you will get a good phone and keep the number.

I've been with T-Mobile for about the same and my average monthly bill is about the same and you can't get the tariff i'm on now either. You're not my son are you!* ;)

At the beginning of this month i upgraded my phone to a Samsung D500 for £100+pp which was a lot cheaper than upgrading my contract to get the phone for nothing.

*Which would be something, as i don't have any. Not that i'm aware of anyway.
