Flame colour on ideal classic boiler?

Hi

I hope someone can help??
I have a ideal classic boiler and have had intermittant problems over the last few months.(pilot light struggling to stay alight ).even after service.
had a engineer round yesterday and he stripped it down and cleaned it out and got it working fine.
had a look at the boiler today and the flame colour is blue with some orange in it? (sometimes alot sometimes a little)
i have never noticed the orange before and could someone tell me if this is something that should be looked at or is it quite normal??
Sorry for the lack of knowledge but any help would be very grateful.

thanks

I hope I can be of some help....

sounds like you're having fun with the boiler!

    1. Ideal boilers are not the best on the market. I have one and it's useless!
    2. The pilot going out? hmmm. Either your gas pressure's too low which i doubt (what's the flames like on your cooker?) or the pilot is blocked, which is more likely. The problem with it going out is that you'll have unburned gas passing into the boiler if the saftey valve doesn't kick in.
    3. Is it just the pilot which has the yellow tinges or the flames on the burners too? I hope it's just the pilot, as this can be a sign of incomplete combustion which leads to carbon monoxide. As your boiler is room sealed, this should not pose any danger to you, but I wouldn't be happy with it. Did the engineer comment on any sooting inside the boiler? An orange tip sounds like a bloked pilot. A lot of orange isn't good.
It sounds very much like the pilot is blocked to me. Does the pilot jump around alot? It could also be that the pilot is touching a cooler surface, which again isn't good.
I am not a corgi engineer yet, but am training to be a fitter-ess to deal with emergencies. If you have any carbon monoxide concerns or worried about leaks, call 0800 111999.

My Ideal boiler pilot light often burns orange after the service. Never see the plumber hoover out any debris, so reckon he just scrapes carbon off and leaves it there.
It goes blue after a while , tho if it doesn't you gotta call him back.
