First online grocery shop, poor experience.

As many of my friends and neighbours do online grocery shopping I thought I'd give it a go as I'm currently convalescing after surgery and hubby is having to do everything.

I used Asda, I had several problems ranging from logging in problems to price discrepancies. I had to phone CS 3 times during the shop, they were very little help. My bill arrived with shopping and some of the multi-buy offers weren't honored. Another phone call and the promise of a refund, which I still haven't had.
I have now emailed Asda and await a reply, after 2 days I am not holding my breath!! On a plus, the delivery arrived on time.;)

I thought it would take the stress out of the weekly shop but the whole experience has been very stressful!!
Is this usual??

Asda are cheap but you pay for it in terms of hassle with online orders, I have had a small number which are fine but usually there is something! I do order things that I want to cheap but not my main shop. The thing that annoys me the most is lack of carriers bags
Ocado are fab, yes of course a bit more but they are reliable, don't substitute often, I usually get a cheap slot Friday/Saturday evening and there are codes around for new customers. They will take the hassle out of shopping, plus the website is easier than asdas.

TBH I don't find Ocado a great deal more expensive, its a rare occasion they are dearer than Tesco on my shop (They send a voucher if they are), shop sensibly and they are very competitive. I find their essentials Waitrose range to be comparable with Tesco Finest and cheaper.

Been shopping with Ocado weekly for over 12 months and had only one sub in all that time. Can't fault them.

    I agree With ^^
Also forgot to mention that it's worth keeping an eye on the flash sale offers through checkout :) on Ocado

Another vote for Ocado here - I switched from Tesco and as long as I'm careful with special offers and multibuys, I'm not spending more. The customer service is far better from start to end, and they're sending me a free bottle of champagne with my 5th shop. No complaints here! :D

Also keep an eye on their facebook page, this mornings offer was free Nescafe Azera Cappuccino. In the past I've had free yoghurts, free canvas shopping bags as well as a £20 free breakfast deal which was fabulous!

Plus if you sign up for the delivery pass you get 10% off certain brands :D

I use Tesco and the worst thing that has happened is they substituted some pineapple in place of melon. I gave it back and the refund was sorted easily. I often use click and collect so that I can have a quick look at any interesting bits of the shop (usually magazines and clothes) but then pick up all the boring stuff in the carpark, ready packed for me! The website is easy to use and there are often free codes for Click and Collect and really good codes for new customers too.

No Tesco near us for click and collect I'm afraid, strangely enough I look at this option for Asda, I have 2 Asdas within 3 miles of where I live but nearest one for collection is 12 miles away!

I tend to use Sainsbury's mostly and very very rarely have a problem and when I do it is sorted out quickly. Asda tends to be the worst for me. Just about everytime I have a problem and with Tesco it's a bit hit and miss mostly.
