We have a group of hotels in the Lake District, and if you're looking for a mini break for you, your hubby and daughter then you might like to stay at the Kings Arms or the Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick. We have some pretty good offers on at the moment, and they won't break the bank either! Have look on our website - lakedistricthotels.net[/URL] or call 0800 840 1240 and our girls will help you find something to fit your budget.
Hope that helps

For my 30th I got a huge surprise BBQ party. I didn't have a clue it was happening even when I walked into my mums back garden (she has the biggest garden of anyone I know) and found about 100 people waiting for me! I loved it, and your hubbys birthday (like my own) falls into prime BBQ territory!0

For my OHs 30th I got him 30 things of 30 eg 30 golf tees, 30 love hearts, 30 coins from the year of his birth (30 x 20ps that are all dated 1982 which I stuck in a photo frame after cleaning them in coke), 30 scratch cards, 30 cakes. Loads of them were daft things and hardly any monetary value but he loved that I'd gone to all that effort and felt totally spolied getting all those presents. The frame of the 30 20ps was his favourite and he keeps it on display in the living room. I'd wanted to take him away for a weekend or something but I couldnt afford to do it - would be a lovely thing to do though. I'm sure whatever you do he'll love!!0

For my 30th my wife arranged a few things. We went to Krakow for a few days. She paid for the flights and hotel. I just needed spending money.
Also she arranged a birthday meal and afternoon buffet for friends and family to come along to. Also had a Chuck themed cake which was awesome.
She also bought us some entry tickets to go to Comic con in London in July which should be good fun getting to meet some celebs.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
All depends on what his interests are and what your budget is really. If he is into music then maybe tickets for a gig. Perhaps a weekend break to London and catch a show, so many to choose from in the West End, so one of them could be to his and your liking.
One of the best presents I ever got was a voucher to use a flight simulator. It was great fun and I loved it.
I am not a materialistic person though. There is little I need or want. So to me an ideal present for a significant birthday would be to enjoy a new experience. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
We went to the Viewing platform at the Shard recently, and DH loved it. Exciting and new, and an amazing view of London.
Followed by dinner at Roast in Borough markets. I was not impressed for the price, so I can't recommend that, but there are plenty of nice restaurants around.0 -

I absolutely love this idea! What other kinds of things would anyone suggest to use for the 30 things?:Alove my wee angel:A0 -
My husband is 30 in August and I've been wondering the same! His mum offered to contribute financially and childcare wise so that we could go on holiday but as a single income family it's just not going to be possible to save enough unfortunately.
Instead, we're going to a local music festival (conveniently it's cheap, we go every year, and we know half of the people that go too - a bit like a massive university reunion!), will probably have a BBQ / party, and I'm hoping to buy him a couple of presents. One being a fire pit as he's wanted one for ages!____________________________________________

My OH turned 30 in April, I wanted to make things special for him too. Obviously these are tailored to mine! Here is what I did.....
I bought him a book of Newspapers from the year he was born, when each of our children were born he bought every newspaper in the shop and they are vacuum sealed for the future, but he didn't have any from his birth.
I researched and bought him a bottle of Bourbon that was rated top in a poll from the US. I got this from the Whiskey exchange, was supplied with a posh looking message card. A 1983 bottle of bourbon was about £250.
I made him a "This is Your Life" red book, was super secret and the whole family was involved with photos, scanned and reprinted with his life story and funny anecdotes from family and friends, I stuck it all in and also put envelopes on each page for people to put personal messages in. I wanted a red leather one but they were expensive with the photos added on ( which I got on offer too from here! Paid £4.68 for 120 photos) so got a lovely handmade one from Ebay.
A surprise meal in a restaurant with the immediate family and friends, total of 40 of us. We all paid for our own meals, and I wrote a speech that his brother and sister read out.
My sister made him a Prince Purple Rain guitar cake, I bought and paid for all the stuff she made the cake.( He is a huge prince fan)
The children got him a "Star". Our 6 yr old son is an avid stargazer and spends hours with his Dad looking at them. He is also out of the country with work a lot so they can both look at it at the same time.
All in all I spent about £500.Member for a long time only recent poster
