Hi
I'm moving back home soon, and we have broadband there, but I now have my own pc, and I'll never get on t'internet when mum's there, and vice-versa. The best thing to do would be to either share a fast connection, or get my own.
We only have one phoneline to the house, and we're already on broadband. We have a BB modem, and we can move to a new provider (the 12 mo contract is up). Would it be easier/cheaper to share, or get another connection???
(it's probably only a short term solution - hopefully I'll get a new job soon!!!)

cheers, but I'm a bit thick really, and don't understand what that's all about!!!!0

What speed is your connection? If you both used it at the same time would it be a problem? Do you both browse? Or both dl stuff?
I'd get a router (wireless if you have the coin) and link them both up to the same ISP.0 -
she browses, I dl and browse! She just likes to be able to check her ebay and email etc.
On a slow 512 at the moment, and would probably need wireless, cos hers is downstairs, and mine'll be in my room upstairs........
is there a big price difference between wireless and non-wireless????0 -
I wouldnt call it a BIG difference but theres a difference alright. Thing is if you go wireless you will need a router and two wireless network cards.
........and if your planning on using the mixture of upstairs and downstairs you will prolly need a good make/model for maximum coverage.0 -

uh??!!! I'm assuming you need to buy the network cards seperately then???
does that mean we can access each other's pcs too........? not sure I like the sound of that!0 -
hehehe.....depends who sets the router up. You can configure it to how u want.
You do usualy buy wireless NIC's seperately but I've seen packages 'deals' containing one router + 2 nics. Not sure how much they are....

cheers, looks good that one - what did you search for then???? I'm almost tempted to just go straight for that one if it'll get me wireless broadband quickly!!!0

I typed in 'wireless' and then selected 'networking' on the left
Just make sure you read about the distance!!!!! Some are really poo and have troubles going through walls/floors.0
