Reselling tickets for blatant profit

If the tickets are so in-demand that they're being re-sold for profit, then... surely the "face price" of the ticket was far too low to begin with.
The free trade economics of supply-and-demand mean that the tickets are resold for higher prices because that is what they are worth.
To me, banning the re-selling of tickets would be like banning shops from buying products and re-selling them for profit. Unless we're going to force the government to set a maximum legal price for any item or ticket that is sold, I don't think there's much you can do.
People might say that that would keep out the "real fans", but who is a real fan of a manufactured pop band trying to make profit? Someone who will pay £20 for a ticket or someone who will pay £250? It's a shame that those who can't afford to go will miss out, but it's a shame that they don't all drive Aston Martins too. C'est la vie!0 -
Nobody is forcing you to buy tickets from Get Me In or SeeTickets.
Supply and demand will dictate the prices.
If you can risk waiting until a week before the gig, when the websites stop you selling them, the prices will plummet IF there are any left.
We bought 5 tickets to Mrs Brown's Boys at Manchester for an April date. Two people dropped out a few weeks before (as one of them ended up being on a RN ship near the Falkands), so we put the tickets on Get Me In for the lowest price (approx £89 each for £39 tickets).
They were snapped up in less than 2 hours after we put them on there.
I didn't think that was unreasonable, being the cheapest tickets available.
The two people with 'our' tickets sitting next to us had a whale of a time, so they must have thought the price was fair and worth it.
The profit was used to pay for the spare hotel room, which was a non-refundable booking.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

so what do you consider a far too low face price ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Scarlet Mist are an ethical ticket re-seller - might be worth keeping an eye on it for the tickets you want.

There's an undercover documentary about it available on YouTube.
If this does occur it occurs on Viagogo more than the others as they have agreements with the Promoters. The promoters then release their stock on VGG to sell at market rates. Then the Promoters blame the general selling tout public that these tickets are from them rather than themselves.
Getmein is wholely owned but TM. They operate as two seperate legal entities with different operating models. TM bought GMI as they saw an income stream that was untapped in the secondary market for them.
Unsold or held back stock does not flow from TM to GMI. Though that is not to say that unhanded employees from TM cannot list on GMI. They are prohibited from doing so (as are GMI employees) but the secondary sites cannot prevent this if it occurs.0 -
There is a piece of software you can buy online, that can get passed all the "check if you are human"tests, it auto puts in credit card info aswell, and can be told to keep on trying to buy tickets.
Touts use this kind of thing as soon as tickets go on sale.0
