So what's underhand?
Presumably your friend was happy to accept whatever it was sold for, and knew who she was selling to?
All that's happening is that the buyer is TRYING to sell for more than they purchased for. There's no guarantee they'll sell at this level. Anyone can do that, even members of the public.0 -
I think it looks like a jolly tasteful and comprehensive refurbishment. Clearly now worth every penny.
Connells, eh? Say no more. You have nothing to worry about.0 -

The original owner was not in the best of health and it could have been that she had two valuations before marketing and IF she unfortunately selected the two who bought it, they may not have been fair market appraisals.
So you're basically saying that you don't know the specifics of the seller's situation?0 -

........or do you think they are underhand?
This morning this property has appeared on Rightmove for £295,000 http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-...-38621755.html
The property in question belonged to a friend of mine and since she sold it in 2012 I have always thought that she was ‘done’ by the local EA.
In spring 2012 the house went on the market for £215,000 (don't know what she accepted as I never asked and it has never appeared on Land Registry) and the for sale sign went up saying Sold - it later transpired that it had been bought by a couple who are both local EA, one working for the original selling agents Newmans and the other Shipways - both in Rugby - house sale completed in July 2012, but the buyers did not appear to move in.
Fast forward a few months to September 2012 and the property is put up for sale with Newmans again for OIRO £275,000 which was then reduced to offers over £250,000 but the pictures showed that they had done nothing to it http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-his...3-0ra/26719458 the property was withdrawn from the market in October 2012.
After bumping into a friend who still lives in the village and knew the original owner very well, I am not the only one who feels uneasy about the situation.0 -
