How to swap mobile numbers!
I've seen many forums across the internet with people wanting to know a way to swap mobile numbers across Pay Monthly contracts.. every single forum I read ended with the same answer: "Not possible"
Well... I think I've found a way around this. Let me see if I can explain with the following example:
You have your phone number "A" with Orange on a £ x 18 months deal.
You have your phone number "B" with O2 on a £ x 12 months deal (or whatever).
You want to swap them.. so:
Phone number "A" goes across to O2
Phone number "B" goes across to Orange
Solution:
Step 1
Ask Orange to add an additional number to your contract... for example, a £10 a month / SIM only / monthly rolling contract (which can be cancelled by just giving one month notice).
Your Orange account now has 2 numbers... lets say it has the original "A" number, and a new "A2" number.
You then contact O2 and do the same thing... creating a "B2" number in addition to the original "B" number.
Both Orange and O2 will post you new SIM cards for the new numbers.
You now have 4 mobile numbers / 4 SIMs.. across just two accounts (one with Orange and one with O2).
Step 2
Call Orange and ask them for the PAC code for the "A" number.. which you want to transfer to O2. Orange will not have a problem with this because you still have the newly created "A2" number against your account. You just need to ask them to transfer that number (A2) from the "£10 a month / SIM only / monthly rolling contract" to the main £ a month x 18 month contract.
You can then do the same with O2... leaving the "B2" number as the main number on your contract.
By doing this you will cancel the Rolling Monthly Contracts.
Step 3
You now have 2 PAC codes... one for the "A" number and one for the "B" number.
Call each network and give them the PAC code for the number you want to add to the account. In this case:
Give the PAC code for "B" number to Orange - this will then replace the "A2" number.
Give the PAC code for "A" number to O2 - this will then replace the "B2" number.
Step 4
All done... just ditch the two extra SIM cards you no longer need... "B" number is now with Orange... and "A" number with O2. :T
NOTES:
1) It will, of course, cost you 2 x £10 to do this (or more if you take more than 1 month to do it). So.. the quicker you do it the less money you waste.
2) PAC codes expire after 30 days... so again, get it all done as quickly as you can.
3) Some networks are able to give you the PAC code straight away.. others will send it in the post.
4) I know for a fact that the above process works as I've done it myself. Do not take "no" for an answer from an inexperienced Sales Advisor.. be persistent - call again and speak to someone else!
I hope the above helps...

Is it just a theory or something proven in practice?Call Orange and ask them for the PAC code for the "A" number.. which you want to transfer to O2. You just need to ask them to transfer that number (A2) from the "£10 a month / SIM only / monthly rolling contract" to the main £ a month x 18 month contract.
Porting the number out normally terminates the contract and you have to pay the ETC.
You can try asking Orange to swap the numbers before getting the PAC, but I don't think that they "will not have a problem with this", although they (and any other provider) are able to do this.0 -

PAC is linked to a number&contract, not to an account.

That's a pretty quick reply grumbler!
By saying:

I mean what you're saying... asking Orange to swap the numbers before getting the PAC.
This certainly works.. I've done it myself.0
