Or you can apply to the council, be entitled to a 1 bed (they don't use shared rates).
  • As you are over 25, if you have ever spent a TOTAL of 3 months in a homeless hostel (or even some supported accommodation) you may qualify for the 1 bed rate.

go to your local council and ask for an application form.
be aware though, that in many areas, waiting lists are very long and it ciykd take years for you to be housed

You would need to apply via your council, depending on your circumstances will depend on the priority etc.

So if i rented a room for 3 months at £57 i could apply for the 1 bed rate after 3 months?

ot shouldnt be difficult to find a place....
but it may be harder to find an affordable place.
LHA only covers the lower third of pribate rents, so finding a decent place may take a fair bit of effort

If you're talking about council housing then that's the wrong way round i'm afraid; you'd be lowest priority.

Provided that room was in a homeless hostel or certain forms of supported accommodation, yes.
